| "Sunset" is a painting about endings. I wanted to convey the way the fading golden light at day's end catches the flame of vivid colors in the distant hills, one last time, before obliterating them with a heavy purple cloud of darkness. Silhouetted against the fading splendor, a woman contemplates the waning day and year, remembering and understanding all that has come before. |
