Mark P. Costa 41, was born in Ridgewood, NJ and grew up in the outer suburbs of New York City. His artistic influences began in his early childhood years, during his many childhood vacations at his grand parents antique filled home and store in Florida. Costa studied in a local community college, graduated in 1998 with a A.S. in Business, and continued on to Rutgers' The State University of New Jersey at Camden to study Art, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1992. After graduating Rutgers' Costa moved back home to northern N.J., and had no luck in finding employment in the New York advertising industry during the poor economy of 1993. So, Costa moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he continued his studies of sculpture at the Atlanta College of Arts, and entered into a career in the Movie Industry in its marketing research arena, where the primary purpose of his job was to find out what most affects people when it comes to the visual content of posters, previews and unreleased new movies, which in turn gave the artist a new education in how visual styles, and strengths can be improved upon or made more captivating and memorable. As a painter, he focuses on very graphic and high color contrast ocean and sky themes, carnival like in nature.

In sculpture, he uses the lost-wax process to create gestural figures, and sometimes incorporates other materials such as marble or 14kt gold plating to add to the sculptures' uniqueness.

Costa's bronze and marble sculpture titled, Princess Diana Ascending Staircase Monument Proposal to the World, has been published in local Florida news columns and Costa was fortunate enough to have someone donate a full 10 page internet web site, showing the sculpture and its monument proposal. As a photographer, Costa tries to show his artistry thru the camera in a very painterly fashion. He produces images with strong contrasting colors of the outdoors. As a underwater photographer the artist captures the mystical serenity of the ocean depths. And while living in Manhattan, photographs the people of the city and its glorious architecture.
