Title: Contemporaneous Commentary: Voices in the Current Sociopolitical Atmosphere

Venue: Clayton Staples Gallery
Awards: Solo exhibition in Clayton Staples Gallery in subsequent exhibition season, with honorarium for shipping
Juror: Dr. Lisa Volpe, Curator, Wichita Art Museum
Eligibility: In the age of increased accessibility of information, the awareness of human coexistence has transformed into an active consciousness of coexistence, therefore furthering the ability to interact with and share ideas. Issues that existed with Baby Boomers are still in existence, such as "big brother" intrusive technologies such as airport scanners, and government surveillance coming to light in the form of the Utah Data Center, and as seen by recent events in Ferguson, MO, etc. In addition to these issues, there are still classist issues shown by the disappearing middle class, resulting in a disparity creating "haves" and "have-nots" within our nation. We seek artwork that exposes, proposes, explores, investigates or otherwise addresses social, political, environmental, or economic issues of injustice in the sociopolitical atmosphere since 9/11.
