Big Fish, Small Pot IV : International Small Teapot Competition & Show
| | Venue: |
Saddleback College Art Gallery
| | Awards: |
Awards will total over $5000. Best in Show Trip to China in Summer 2010.
| | Juror: |
Guangzhen "Po" Zhou
| | Eligibility: |
This competition is open all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be teapots composed primarily of ceramic materials completed by the artist within the last three years. Up to three entries may be submitted by each artist. This competition is specifically aimed at small teapots. The teapot as a functional item is believed to have originated in China (perhaps the Yixing area) as a personal drinking vessel. As such, teapots were not large. Over time, the form evolved to suit the desires of the users. This show celebrates the origin and diversity of the teapot. In the spirit of these personal, functional items, all teapots entered in this competition shall not exceed a volume of 16 ounces (approximately 500 mL).
