Earl Mott studied illustration and related art with Art Instruction Schools. Later, he studied oil painting with Virginia Blackmon in Texas and with Foster Caddell in Connecticut at North Light Art School, as well as privately with Mr. Caddell. Mr. Mott is a former member of Oil Painters of America and American Artists Professional League. He is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America and also in Strathmore's and Madison's Who's Who. Several of Mr. Mott's paintings have been reproduced on brochure covers and as prints by the University of Texas School of Law. His work has also been featured in North Light Magazine and the American Artist Book Club. He is the author of an art instruction book, entitled Secrets From an Oil Painting Diary, published in hardcover in 1988 by Watson-Guptill Publishers of New York as well as an instructional CD-ROM titled The Oil Painting Guidebook to Better Landscapes. He was a winner in the 1997 North Light National Portrait Painting Competition and the work was published in a book, The Best of Portrait Painting, published in 1998 by North Light Publishers. Mr. Mott is also a poet and the author of a book of poems and paintings entitled The Unseen Hand, published in 2003. This book features 12 paintings with details of each one and 120 poems. The theme of the book is God's involvement in our lives, and a hand is concealed in each painting. His most recent book is Cherished Moments, which is a collection of 100 poems and devotional vignettes. Most recently, Mr. Mott's work was selected in a national internet competition for the book Best of America, Kennedy Publishing, 2007. |
