This group of paintings focuses on the intrapersonal psychology that comes from my own cognitive field of view. Fragmented memory that stems from childhood circumstances including separation anxieties, fond remembrances, dependency issues and even medical diagnosis, spawn fading points of reference and peculiar obsessions that lie beneath the subconscious. Pieced together partly out of a compulsion to recreate past events in order to alter their outcome and therefore fix what has been perceived as broken, and partly to create a new emotional environment in which people and places in life's events take on mythic status in their own swirling and chaotic dimension.

Through borrowing from other cultures and religions I frantically attempt to define my own identity by comparison. Ideas become paralyzed by analysis and float in a zero gravity environment; idols supply tender alimony to a divorced sense of trust and desire, scientific and religious iconography acts as a symbolic expression of perceived needs and wants, an arrested development fights for its place amongst adult relationships as the forbearer of emotional stability.

Happiness becomes a goal to be attained through continuous self-evaluation and processing in an ongoing effort that becomes perpetual in motion. Production and entropy lead to elation and heartache involving individual comparisons that leak out from the periphery of idiosyncratic personality archetypes and rise or sink in an ethereal sense of self-worth. Reminders, soapboxes, declarations, scars, trophies, the psyche swims through confusion and indecision, warding of mundane propositions and garnering adulation and prestige. Truth and love materialize as a pink gun that fires bullets made of pure gold. Mysticism grapples tradition, clarity submits to the convoluted and humility gives way to ego while terror and hilarity combine to form a pivotal link between absolute humor and ultimate sadness.
