Ann Marie Williams is an award-winning fine artist and illustrator residing in Reston, VA. She is a northern Va. native and a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has worked as a graphic designer, publications manager and art director. She has received numerous design awards, and judged several national design competitions. She has also taught graphic design at The American University School of Communications. Even though she has been working as a graphic designer for several years, fine arts and painting continue to be her passion.

Her work is very expressive and incorporates acrylics, collage, and oil pastel or caran d'arche crayons to achieve varied textures. She uses a very strong sense of color, line and movement.

Williams is a member of the Greater Reston Art Center (GRACE), Black Artists of DC (BADC), and the Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington (WCA/DC). She continues her art studies at the Art League School at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va., and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington.

A recent accomplishment was winning the 2006 National Cherry Blossom Festival® Art Contest. Williams' painting was among 70 submissions received for consideration for the festival. Entries were sent in from all over the nation and from around the world, including Japan and the Netherlands. She also won third place in a national painting competition sponsored by Daimler/Chrysler in 1999.

Ms. Williams has illustrated three children's books. She supports art education in local communities and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for MTC Art Studios in Prince George's County, MD.
