"Paper Clay Techniques"

Learn paper clay techniques from Jerry Bennett, a key figure in the exploding field of paper clay. His work is in many galleries and museums throughout the world. Develop a personal vision of handbuilding techniques for creating functional and sculptural forms. Demonstrations focus on slab construction, but students are free to experiment with coil building, pinching, and extrusion. This online class will use a wide variety of material techniques including paper clay, decorating techniques, textures, colored slips, and glaze applications. This class will provide specific instruction from the instructor for advancing your work to a higher level. Each student will work independently.

"Traditions in Landscape Painting"

In this visually rich and interactive class, students will be guided through the development of the color and styles of contemporary landscape painting from its beginnings in the 16th century to the modern era, with a focus on historical Dutch landscape painting, the English and French plein air painters, the Impressionist landscape, and early modern forms of personal expression in the genre. Each class will include a visual history of the topic, color palettes, the materials and techniques of each approach, and a video demonstration by the instructor. Working from master copies and photos, as well as observational painting, will be addressed.
