"Architecture & Southern Landscape"

In this workshop we will paint architecture in the southern landscape en plein air. We will discuss the plein air process and a few things to simplify that process by eliminating excessive gear and materials. In addition, we will have in depth conversations on perspective, using a viewfinder, composition selection, lighting, the notan sketch. Each day will begin with a demo and discussion and end with a critique of the days work. In between these session will be time for the students to draw, sketch and do the exercises. More time will be spent on finished paintings as the workshop progresses using the sketches and exercises done earlier in the workshop.

We have the luxury of time to explore and develop our most amazing art. Join me on this 5-day adventure for creating history and mystery. Make history using layers of acrylic mediums, collage and color. Learn how to veil imagery to elicit mystery. Colors evoke mood, texture creates a place where the eye can jump right in and gesture and movement keep you engaged. During this course you will learn how to use acrylic pastes, gels and mediums to create texture, learn how to use color to evoke a mood and incorporate alternative art materials to enhance your finished mixed media art. Every day will involve demonstrations and plenty of time to experiment, along with guided encouragement.

This workshop is the next step and follow-up to Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Hands-on exercises focus on how to use color theory to achieve harmonious color, and how to see and efficiently mix specific desired hues as seen in various visual perceptual and psychological aspects of color. Her work has been featured in The Colored Pencil Magazine and she was selected to do a technique demonstration article for this magazine in 2015. A popular instructor, she is comfortable with many different artistic mediums and her classes consist of not only pencilists but also those who paint in oil and acrylic. Her emphasis on fundamentals, values, and strong contrast bring both beginning artists as well as those who have been painting for years.
