"Capturing Intriguing Light"
May 30-June 1, 2019 (10am-5pm)
 

Kathleen Denis generously and thoroughly teaches the essential elements to help you create a great work of art that captures the light and intrigues the viewer. She will include applicable daily lectures, demos and personal hands on assistance. Day one you will learn how to make creative compositions with focal points and depth, while developing and applying value studies. Day two you will learn how to mix, choose and apply colors that captivate your viewer. And day three you will learn how to add the finishing touches with edges and details needed to create your masterpiece! Kathleen works with various levels of students, but some painting experience is needed. This class will be taught in oils.

"Bigger, Faster, Fresher, Looser Abstract Painting"
October 4-6, 2019
 

Have you ever wondered how to Loosen-Up your painting style? Paint with more Freedom? Be more Spontaneous? Be more Expressive? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then my Bigger, Faster, Fresher, Looser Abstract Painting Workshop is for you! I will teach you how to do each of these realizing there should also be a firm foundation of structure for your paintings using shape, value, color, edges and center of interest. This workshop is also about learning to loosen-up and paint more freely. All who attend will be able to apply the lessons learned to their own style of painting. This workshop is non media specific. All who utilize watercolor, acrylic, and oil are welcome.

"Painting Brilliant Still Lifes"
October 14-17, 2019
 

Soon teaches how to paint a brilliant Still Life. You will receive a drawing to copy and mask. Soon will start with a very loose wash, then she will teach how to paint layers of color. Her method is simple and she will give each student the time and attention to make this painting sing with light and color. A step-by-step instructional process will be used, incorporating Soon Y. Warren's reference photos and drawings for each project. Daily painting demonstrations and critiques will be provided concentrating on technique, the concept of color theory, composition and color values.
