"Materials & Techniques of Oil Painting"

Find the answers to all your oil painting questions in this fascinating examination of the materials used by artists from the pre-Renaissance to the present day. Work from the still life, models, and other subjects to explore traditional underpainting techniques, glazing and scumbling layering methods, and wet-into-wet ala prima painting. "Photographing the Apostle Islands with Craig Blacklock"

This workshop is open to photographers with a working understanding of their camera settings and a beginning knowledge of how to edit photos in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. This is an all-week series of unforgettable photo outings with master photographer Craig Blacklock, including a sunset boat cruise to the Apostle Island Sea Caves, canoeing in Madeline Island’s Big Bay Lagoon, a visit to the Bodin’s Fisheries in Bayfield, as well as dawn and sunset photo shoots. Sharpen your compositional skills with group critiques and personal time with Craig, while you edit and print your images in our studio. "Apostle Islands Night Sky Photography Workshop"
September 23-27, 2019
 

Explore the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, while learning the art of night sky photography. The workshop dates have been carefully selected for many reasons including moon phases, meteor showers, rise and set times, weather, temperatures, geographical location and current space weather events. The Northern Lights are often seen close to the autumn and spring equinoxes. Most of the shooting will be done on Madeline Island. We will also take a boat ride to Devils Island where we will photograph the caves at sunset before being dropped off on another Apostle Island for an overnight shoot! We will learn how to capture the Milky Way, star trails, panoramas, time-Lapse video, and meteor showers, and also cover the post processing workflow and techniques.
