In this workshop we will concentrate on all the basics but especially color - there could be no better place to do this than in the colorful, cobbled streets of old San Miguel. If your drawing skills are good that's great but getting the colors right and values correct will make the difference between a so/so painting and one with a sense of moment and place. We'll also be looking for the big shapes and main elements in your picture. And we'll learn to simplify quickly. While this workshop is open to all levels, it would help to have at least some "plein air" experience. It's best to get used to working with your equipment. A 5 day inmersion in the experience and the process of painting with clay and sand on canvas. Experience the origins of painting, as our ancestors did when they used clay to paint on the walls of their caves. Barbara O. Kristy Kutch Colored Pencil Workshops
Kristy Kutch has been creating colored pencil art for almost thirty years and has been teaching colored pencil workshops since 1991. A teacher with a life license, she applies many basic learning principles to her workshops, enthusiastically meeting each student at the appropriate level. Beginners are always welcome, but even advanced artists benefit from Kristy's instruction. Offering demonstrations of techniques and the characteristics of different types of colored pencils, papers, and other related materials, Kristy covers a wide range of possibilities. Her techniques book, Drawing and Painting with Colored Pencil (Watson-Guptill Publications), was released in 2005. Her new book, The New Colored Pencil, is a May, 2014 Watson-Guptill release.
