9th Annual International Drawing Discourse Exhibition

As part of an ongoing commitment to promote drawing practices in the visual arts, the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNC Asheville) invites artists to submit entries to a Juried International Exhibition of contemporary drawing, January 19 - February 23, 2018. $2000 in awards & full-color catalogue. UNC Asheville seeks to examine drawing as it is practiced and defined by today's artists. Such an exhibition will demonstrate the continued significance of drawing through both conventional and innovative methods. Open to all artists who are 18 years of age or older. All work must be original, completed in the past two years and cannot have been exhibited at The University of North Carolina Asheville before. It is at the juror's discretion (Stuart Shils) to choose single or multiple works from each artist's submission. Media is open to any traditional or experimental drawing media welcoming both two or three-dimensional works, video or installation. Size is open to works that can fit through a standard set of double doors, 10'6" ceiling height and up to 36' for both floor and wall space. $30 for the first image, $5 for each additional image (max 6 images $55). Japan Day is inviting all visual artists to submit their work to the Japan Day Art Contest to select our Japan Day Official Artist 2018. We are accepting submissions that incorporate the three themes of New York, Japan, and Central Park. The chosen artwork will become the official image of Japan Day @ Central Park 2018, and will be used for the official poster, programs, flyer, and T-shirts. Premio O.R.A. Open Call for Artists. 15 Opportunities

Artists of all nationalities can apply with no restrictions on age, thinking, technique or any other factor. The jury of O.R.A. comprises 15 professional Italian art galleries and art institutions interested in discovering new projects to be exhibited. Each of the 15 galleries in the selection panel, located in the most important areas for contemporary art in Italy, will choose one artist to realise a solo show. The exhibition can be a prelude to a long-lasting collaboration (many of the artists who were selected in the previous editions now work permanently with the galleries that awarded them). The galleries choose their winners freely and autonomously and are just required to select artists with whom they have never previously worked. All the exhibitions will open in 2018. Apply online. 2018 Two of Hearts

Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA announces a call to artists for an upcoming art exhibition, February 1-24, 2018. Juror: Lori McBride. We are looking for works of art that not only evoke the various feelings of love (passion, affection, lust, tenderness, infatuation, etc.), but also can include literal images of hearts themselves. We invite the artist to take a conceptual, literal or emotional approach on matters of the heart. In addition to portrayals of the heart, we ask, what do you love? 2018 Call for Proposals, Roman J Witt Residency Program

Both established and emerging artists/ designers are invited to apply for the Witt Residency at the Stamps School of Art & Design in Ann Arbor, MI. The Witt residency provides students an alternative learning opportunity to engage with practicing artists who can make use of resources across campus, therefore the ideal candidate must value collaboration, have good social and communication skills and be interested in generating creative partnerships across disciplines. It is the goal of the Witt Residency to foster an atmosphere of inventive creative activity that extends throughout the University community. Witt Residents receive an honorarium of $20,000 for up to twelve weeks in residence served over an academic year. This $3,000 prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University honors the best documentary writing and photography in alternating years. The focus is on current or recently completed work (within the last two years). This year's prize is for photography.
