Call for Entries Now Open for 2015 Hunting Art Prize (Posted: 8/1/14) -- Hunting PLC seeks entries for the 2015 Hunting Art Prize, giving artists in Texas an opportunity to vie for a $50,000 prize. The competition, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, is open to artists who are legal residents of Texas and at least 18 years of age or older by Aug. 1, 2014. A single two-dimensional piece that complies with the terms and conditions may be submitted for the prize. The digital file must be in JPEG format - no less than 1 MB and no greater than 2 MB in size. Artwork must be uploaded at the time the artist signs up for the competition. Found in nearly every corner of the world, Crows (Corvus) are considered one of the world's most intelligent animals. In mythology, Crows have fascinated mankind. Chain of Parks Art Fest (Posted: 10/14/14) -- The LeMoyne Chain of Parks Arts Festival is held April 18-19, 2015 in a group of downtown city parks in the east/west divide of Park Avenue in Tallahassee, Florida. Small Pleasures (Posted: 7/20/14) -- "Small Pleasures" is a public installation designed for the facade of the Ulrich Museum of Art (Wichita, KS) in place of Joan Miro's monumental mosaic Personnages Oiseaux. Miro's mural is under restoration from 2012 through 2016, which is the duration of this project. The installation includes a small waterproof display case mounted on a billboard-sized image in the middle of the facade, and two telescopes installed across the street for the viewing of miniature works displayed in the case. The Know Art Project/ Slippery Rock University (Posted: 9/11/14) -- The Know Art Project, in conjunction with the Women's and Gender Studies Program and Martha Gault Art Society of Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA) announces Global Images of U.S. Women. Female artists from around the world (excluding American citizens) are invited to interpret how they see women of The United States of America. Artists of every level, background, and age are encouraged to submit work. This is a non-juried exhibit and submission is free. All art must be executed on a standard 5x7 (13cmx18cm) postcard. Works may be in any medium as long as pieces remain 2 dimensional and fitted onto a postcard. All submissions will become part of the permanent collection of works of the Women's and Gender Studies Program of Slippery Rock University and possibly used for publication. No art will be returned. The exhibit runs March 30 - April 2, 2015 at the Robert M. Smith Student Center. On 3/30 there will be an opening reception and discussion pertaining to the exhibit. As well, a panel discussion will take place on 3/31 exploring the intersections of art, politics, and gender theory. The 5 Bs, Birds Bees Butterflies Bats and Bugs (Posted: 11/7/14) -- Wayne Art Center and Bird Town, Pennsylvania, the working partner of the Audubon Society, will be collaborating on an exhibition featuring works depicting birds, bats, bees, butterflies and other insects. The show will include two and three-dimensional works that will be showcased inside and outdoors at the Wayne Art Center from Sunday, March 29 through Saturday, May 2, 2015. The exhibition of paintings, works on paper, mixed media, as well as ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fiber and glass will be on display in the Davenport Gallery. Ivyside Juried Art Competition (Posted: 10/29/14) -- Artists will be selected from on-line submissions by a faculty committee. Up to six artists are awarded annually with a solo gallery exhibition in one of two gallery spaces (each approximately 13' x 25') at the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona. The competition is open to all visual artists in all media. Entries must have been completed within the last two years. If awarded, artwork must be suitable for installation and must not exceed 84" in any firm dimension. Two-dimensional works must not weigh more than 60 lbs., including frame, and must be ready to hang with the appropriate attached hardware. Three-dimensional works weighing over 80 lbs must have a base that can be rolled or composed of elements that can be easily moved. If awarded, artwork may be hand-delivered or shipped prepaid.
