LARAC's June Arts Festival (Posted: 1/23/15) -- LARAC invites artists/artisans to apply for booth space in their annual juried June Arts Festival, June 13th and 14th in Glens Falls, NY. All work must be of original design handcrafted by the artist; reproductions of original work must involve handwork or direct supervision by the artist. The June Arts Festival is one of the premier summer events in the Adirondack Region, drawing crowds up to 20,000. New American Paintings - 2015 Midwestern Competition (Posted: 2/13/15) -- New American Paintings is a museum-quality, soft-cover art periodical, published bimonthly by The Open Studios Press. Each 184 page volume is a regional exhibition-in-print, selling for $20 at 1,500 bookstores, museum shops and art supply stores nationwide. The Know Art Project/ Slippery Rock University (Posted: 9/11/14) -- The Know Art Project, in conjunction with the Women's and Gender Studies Program and Martha Gault Art Society of Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA) announces Global Images of U.S. Women. Female artists from around the world (excluding American citizens) are invited to interpret how they see women of The United States of America. Artists of every level, background, and age are encouraged to submit work. This is a non-juried exhibit and submission is free. All art must be executed on a standard 5x7 (13cmx18cm) postcard. Works may be in any medium as long as pieces remain 2 dimensional and fitted onto a postcard. All submissions will become part of the permanent collection of works of the Women's and Gender Studies Program of Slippery Rock University and possibly used for publication. No art will be returned. The exhibit runs March 30 - April 2, 2015 at the Robert M. Smith Student Center. On 3/30 there will be an opening reception and discussion pertaining to the exhibit. As well, a panel discussion will take place on 3/31 exploring the intersections of art, politics, and gender theory. The 5 B's: Birds, Bees, Butterflies, Bats, and Bugs (Posted: 11/7/14) -- Wayne Art Center and Bird Town, Pennsylvania, the working partner of the Audubon Society, will be collaborating on an exhibition featuring works depicting birds, bats, bees, butterflies and other insects. The show will include two and three-dimensional works that will be showcased inside and outdoors at the Wayne Art Center from Sunday, March 29 through Saturday, May 2, 2015. The exhibition of paintings, works on paper, mixed media, as well as ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fiber and glass will be on display in the Davenport Gallery. Ivyside Juried Art Competition (Posted: 10/29/14) -- Artists will be selected from on-line submissions by a faculty committee. Up to six artists are awarded annually with a solo gallery exhibition in one of two gallery spaces (each approximately 13' x 25') at the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona. The competition is open to all visual artists in all media. Entries must have been completed within the last two years. If awarded, artwork must be suitable for installation and must not exceed 84" in any firm dimension. Two-dimensional works must not weigh more than 60 lbs., including frame, and must be ready to hang with the appropriate attached hardware. Three-dimensional works weighing over 80 lbs must have a base that can be rolled or composed of elements that can be easily moved. If awarded, artwork may be hand-delivered or shipped prepaid. Schedello! Fine Arts & Music Festival (Posted: 2/10/15) -- Schedello! Fine Arts & Music Festival, held August 15 & 16, 2015, is an outdoor, balanced, juried fine arts show. The Artists' Village is located along the serene Grand Lawn of the beautiful 17 acre Schedel Arboretum & Gardens in Elmore, Ohio. The show will be juried by a committee of regional artists and academics who strive for balance with cash awards for best of show and 3 honorable mentions.
