10th Annual Frank Bette Plein Air Paintout (Posted: 2/7/15) -- Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Alameda, CA seeks applications for the Frank Bette Plein Air Paintout July 27-August 1, 2015. Forty selected artists will paint "en plein air" inside Alameda's city limits painting the island's tree lined streets, beaches, stately Victorian homes and shops, marinas, cargo ships in the Estuary, military aircraft carriers, views of San Francisco and the bay. Enjoy foggy moody mornings that burn off to warm, sunny afternoons. All painting mediums accepted. $40 entry fee. Paintings will be juried and for sale on Saturday, August 1. Best of Show $150, Innovation Award $100, Award of Recognition $50. Juror: Sylvia White from the Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura CA. The Base Line: An Exhibition on Drawing (Posted: 3/13/15) -- The ARC Gallery and Educational Foundation in Chicago, Illinois announces a call to artists for an exhibition exploring and celebrating Drawing, June 24 - July 18, 2015. Juror: Aron Packer of Packer Schopf. Drawing is a medium steeped in tradition and transcendent of those traditions. It is a skill that has moved beyond the pencil and paper yet no matter what, it is still the first and most central element of all two dimensional art works. Traditional drawing mediums will be considered in addition to all subject matters. Two dimensional mixed media works will be considered as long as drawing is one of the main components of the work.
