We will then focus on the process of developing a dynamic composition - a resolved, thoughtful, design sketch can be the difference in a successful watercolor painting. Learn how to make colorful earrings, bracelets and/or pendants using "skins" of abstract paint. In this class we will cut or punch out shapes from dried "skins" of acrylic paint. Drawing and painting “en plein air” has become increasingly popular in recent years. Understanding how to compose a drawing outdoors with correct perspective (aerial and linear) can be challenging. Acrylic pouring is a method for creating beautiful abstract images. The painting process is achieved by layering various methods and using different techniques and tools. Pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. In this class we will use bubble wrap to create an abstract spring garden. We’ll create a beautiful blue sky and then you’ll pick your favorite flower colors to create puddles, shades of green for the leaves and stems. We will then layer bubble wrap over the painting to create a stunning 3D flower effect. Each step you will be given options for how to proceed to make the painting your own and how you prefer.

In this class, you will hand-build a bowl on the first day using a slab of clay inside a mold to create a perfectly shaped bowl. You will then paint slip onto the surface. During the second class, you will carve through the slip using a sgraffito technique to create the design. Sarah will demonstrate. Students may follow along or create their own designs. Mistakes are easy to fix by filling them back in with slip. The bowl will be bisque-fired and clear-glazed by the teacher. Completed pottery will be ready for pickup approximately 2-4 weeks after the final class. Shipping is available upon request for an additional fee of $15 per small box.

Take your photographic skills to the next level! You will learn the use of the shutter speed, aperture settings, and what ISO is all about, and how they work together to produce a great photo. What the camera does when you select landscape, sports, night, portrait and A, P or S choices will be reviewed, and how to use them effectively. Ages 10 year through adult. Learn the relaxing and creative art of crochet. A crochet hook and yarn will be provided for participants to learn. Now that participants are able to do the basic stitches, crocheting in the round will be introduced! This opens the crochet world to motifs - or commonly known as granny squares. Two techniques will be taught during this class to crochet in the round. The first is a join stitch using a simple chain. The second is a magic ring. Both techniques will allow crochet artists to create any crochet project that requires crocheting in the round. By the end of this class, participants will create a 2-3 round granny square.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, the classic by C.S. Lewis supports the theme for this week. Campers this week will create 2D and 3D art with a woodland creatures vibe! Campers will explore different mediums to create art with a mystical feel. Campers will also support the Theater camp with help in creating setting and props for their Theater production. Suncatchers add warmth and colored light to any room. Join Joan and create your own, beautiful suncatcher! Participants will use a flower form and build in textures of sand, colored glass and precut mirror to craft a shiny suncatcher to enjoy in four seasons.
