White subjects are often anything but white—yet they appear white when painted using colors that are around them. By varying values and employing complementary colors we can create the illusion of brightness. Alex will paint in watercolor as she demonstrates some of the methods to create the illusion of white flowers, clothing, and bright, shiny subjects. The color mixing and application is the same for all media. Paint in your medium of choice. Alex will use the basic primaries colors: reds, blues, yellows, a green, and burnt umber.
