"Woodcut Printmaking"

Printing from a drawing carved into wood block is the oldest and most straightforward form of printmaking. Artists of all levels enjoy its potential for intricate detail and graphic impact. Learn the basics of relief printmaking, including carving techniques, care of tools, types of wood and paper, registration, and how to use mark-making to translate ideas into dynamic black and white images. Instruction will cover printing by hand and on an etching press, using oil-based inks. This workshop is most suitable for folks that have some experience with printmaking, but all levels are welcome. Tuition includes a $20 lab fee.

"Relief Printmaking"
Wednesdays, July 15-29, 2026
 

This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of relief printmaking without a press. Students will learn linocut and woodcut carving and hand printing techniques. The tools and techniques covered are accessible and can be continued at home with minimal equipment. Upon completion, students should feel confident creating and printing their own relief designs independently.

"Monotype: The Painterly Print Intensive"
August 10-14, 2026
 

Monotypes are an expressive and accessible entry into printmaking: draw or paint an image on a Plexiglas plate or other surface and then print it on paper or fabric to create a one-of-a-kind artwork. Instruction will cover both hand-printing and press techniques, as well as water- and oil-based colors. Tuition includes a $30 lab fee.

"Lino Cut Print Making"
August 29 - September 5, 2026
 

Join lino cut artist Emily Robertson for a week of playful experimentation. Throughout the week you will explore and experiment with lino cut printmaking. Drawing inspiration from the luxuriant, natural environment of Clos Mirabel and its surroundings, Emily will guide you in the creation of your own lino cut prints. You will be encouraged to play with mark making and sketching, exploring your own style of drawing which you can then use to create your lino prints. Emily will demonstrate the full lino printmaking process; from drawing designs and carving to colour mixing and printing by hand. Throughout the week you will be encouraged to have fun and experiment. This course is suitable for any level of experience.

"Wild Botanicals: Botanical Monoprinting & Plant Lore Retreat — Italy"

Join printmaker Megan Hunter in collaboration with medical herbalist Julia Behrens for a week immersion in botanical monoprinting, plant knowledge and print practice in a historic Umbrian villa. This immersive botanical monoprinting retreat explores layered colour, plant form, paper and composition to develop a considered body of work informed by direct engagement with the surrounding landscape. Participants gather local flora on guided walks, exploring its medicinal, ecological and cultural histories before translating it into layered prints in the studio. Through colour and texture, you create a collection of botanical prints, part artwork, part visual field journal and record of time in Italy. Includes chef prepared meals, accommodation, materials, excursions, wine and olive oil tastings. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists.

"Drawing into Printmaking"
