"Cyanotype and Its Different Shades Workshop"

Create beautiful cyan-colored photographic prints with this eco-friendly 19th century process. Expose photographic negatives and actual objects to ultraviolet light on prepared paper or fabric, and develop the resulting images in water, to create intriguing tinted photographs and negative shadow images. Not a fan of blue? Different toning colors will be available! Come away with unique prints and the expertise to make cyanotypes at home! All levels welcome.

"High School Intensive: Music Industry Illustration"
July 15-19, 2019
 

Explore illustration as a counterpart to music through the art of the concert poster. Experiment with traditional and digital methods to develop imagery that interprets the lyrical content of your favorite artists. Employ spontaneous and stream of consciousness drawing and lettering exercises to invent narratives from instrumental music. Learn about the history of the concert poster to gain insight and inspiration for your own music-themed work. One-Week Intensives for High School Students offer teens the valuable opportunity to develop and hone their skills under the guidance of PAFA faculty. Open to students having completed 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades by Summer 2019. All levels welcome.

Discover the creative possibilities of digital photography. Learn to use the camera as an expressive tool as you develop an understanding of photography’s technical and visual aspects. Instruction covers camera functions, compositional strategies, image editing in Photoshop, and creating digital prints. Required: DSLR camera or compact camera with manual functions. Note: A limited number of cameras are available for checkout during the course from the PAFA library if needed, on a first-come-first-served basis.
