Students will work on four different studies of fruits using Prism Colored Pencils. Learning by example, the students will complete four drawings by blending colors, shading and following reflection of light patterns. To achieve a strong foundation in any medium, one must first learn the basics of drawing - line, form value and composition. Through a series of fun and challenging exercises, the student will become familiar with how to "draw what you see." Drawing is the foundational skill for all other forms of visual art. Through the observation and interpretation of the natural world the artist gains understanding of form and discovers effective ways to express ideas. The class covers in-depth skills of line, mass, value and modeling of form, Perspective and Composition. The course is based on the methods of instructors Kimon Nicolaides (The Natural Way to Draw) and Betty Edwards (Drawing From the Right Side of the Brain).

Please note that this class will utilize a nude model. Also note that participants must be 18 years or older to take this class. The workshop uses a live model to demonstrate the proportions, structure, dynamics and expressive potential of the human figure. We will address the basics of drawing the head and torso in nude and draped poses. Easels and work tables are provided.
