"Drawing for Painters"

Most drawing classes focus on making a beautiful drawing. This class is designed for painters and is structured to address the specific drawing skills needed for painting. Students will be shown techniques of seeing proportion, angles, relative size and edge. The emphasis will be on helping each student find an approach to drawing that will be most effective for them.

"Drawing the Portrait in Charcoal- An Academic Approach"
Tuesdays, Sepember 24 - November 12, 2019
 

In this class we will work with a model from life to understand the necessary components of a successful portrait. Through the medium of charcoal we’ll explore values, anatomy, and drawing techniques. Students will learn a method working from simple to complex with the goal of capturing the model’s likeness in a realistic portrait. Class size is limited to eight students, so don't wait!

"The Human Figure: Concepts in Drawing and Anatomy"
Wednesdays, Sepember 25 - October 16; October 30 - November 20
 

Throughout this class, we will take a tour of the human figure, focusing on areas of the body one at a time, exploring traditional concepts related to anatomy, observation, and techniques in charcoal. The goal at the end will be to understand how the constituent parts of the human figure add up to a unified structural whole. Class size limited to 8 students.
