Learn how to draw almost anything by learning how to really look! Using simple shapes and lines, young artists can learn how to create amazing drawings step-by-step. We will have fun using pencils, markers, oil pastels and watercolors to draw all sorts of creatures and critters that live on the land, swim in the sea, and fly in the sky! “Step-by-Step” drawing techniques can help young artists gain confidence and encourage them create more complex compositions. Each week's project will include a method of constructing clay by hand (pinch, coil, slab, etc.) and plenty of opportunities for self-expression and experimentation. After students construct a clay piece and paint it with colorful glazes, projects will be fired in electric kilns. Students should bring their imagination and be prepared to get messy as we dive into the world of functional and sculptural ceramics. This is a 5-week, 1.5 hour, after school class.

Starting with the fundamentals of photography, students learn about camera settings and composition from award-winning photographer Laura Ducceschi. Demonstrations and slideshows illustrate the concepts, then students put theory into practice creating photographs outside. They receive regular feedback during class critiques. Bring your own single lens reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless camera for this class. A compact camera is acceptable but will not have all the functionality. Phone cameras are not acceptable for this course. **For every class, students need to be prepared to create photographs with a working camera, a fully charged camera battery and a memory card for their own use. This Mother's Day weekend, join us for an afternoon of clay together with your child, and create this fresh Strawberry Pot!
