Old West Themed Artist Photoshoot (Posted: 1/11/16) -- Join us at Our Heritage Guest Ranch in Crawford, Nebraska for an Artist Photoshoot on June 18-21. All artists are welcome! Most of the photos will be taken on our 3600 acres. We have a wonderful display of prairie, badlands, ponds and deep cedar filled canyons. We will have models trailing and working cattle. Camping fireside in old tents and some with TeePees. We have someone haying with a team and antique equipment. We will also be haying with motorized machines. A day will be spent at the neighbor's old west town. A sod house is near for Pioneer shots. A trip to Fort Robinson can be arranged for those artists desiring that sort of scenery. $600, or $750 to stay on the ranch in a dormitory setting. Public Art to Honor E.L. CDS/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography (Posted: 4/5/16) -- The CDS/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography is given to a North American photographer pursuing work of creative or social importance. While there are other sources for grants and fellowships in photography, the chance to have the editorial, design, production, and marketing support to realize a body of work in print is rare: The prize's focus is on creating an opportunity for photographers who are engaged in the creation of a continued, active, and vital body of work to publish a first book. Winners receive a grant of $3,000, publication of a book of photography, and inclusion in a website devoted to presenting the work of the prizewinners. The winner also receives a solo exhibit; the photographs are then placed in the Archive of Documentary Arts in Duke University's Rubenstein Library, Durham, NC.
