Pacific Shores Photography Exhibition (Posted: 7/30/14) -- Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, OR seeks entries for a juried photography exhibition, December 12, 2014 - February 14, 2015. 1st: $500, 2nd: $350, 3rd: $250, 4 honorable mentions. Jurors: Don Briggs, Wood Sabold, Burl Noggle and Julie Noggle. All photographers residing in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii, amateur or professional, are invited to provide up to three submissions in any theme. All forms of photographic expression are encouraged: from film-based to digital capture -- black and white darkroom to digital manipulation and alternative processing. All entries must be the entrant's original work, i.e. the capture of the image as well as dark room and digital processing. This does not preclude the use of professional labs for printing, resizing, and film development. Global Images of U.S. Women (Posted: 5/1/14) -- The Know Art Project, in conjunction with the Women's and Gender Studies Program and Martha Gault Art Society of Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA, USA) announces Global Images of U.S. Women. For this unique inquiry into how U.S. women are perceived and interpreted transnationally, women artists from around the world (excluding U.S. citizens) are invited to interpret how they see women of the United States. Artists of every level, background and age are encouraged to submit work. This is a non-juried exhibit and submission is free. The exhibit guidelines require all art be executed on a standard 4"x6" (11cmx16cm) or 5x7 (13cmx18cm) postcard and received by September 1, 2014. Works may be in any medium as long as pieces remain 2-dimensional and fitted onto a postcard. All submissions will become part of the permanent collection of works of the Women's and Gender Studies program of Slippery Rock University and possibly used for publication. No art will be returned to the artist. The exhibit runs September 15-18, 2014 at the Robert M. Smith Student Center with an opening reception and discussion. Call for Entries Now Open for 2015 Hunting Art Prize (Posted: 8/1/14) -- Hunting PLC seeks entries for the 2015 Hunting Art Prize, giving artists in Texas an opportunity to vie for a $50,000 prize. The competition, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, is open to artists who are legal residents of Texas and at least 18 years of age or older by Aug. 1, 2014. A single two-dimensional piece that complies with the terms and conditions may be submitted for the prize. The digital file must be in JPEG format - no less than 1 MB and no greater than 2 MB in size. Artwork must be uploaded at the time the artist signs up for the competition. Small Pleasures (Posted: 7/20/14) -- "Small Pleasures" is a public installation designed for the facade of the Ulrich Museum of Art (Wichita, KS) in place of Joan Miro's monumental mosaic Personnages Oiseaux. Miro's mural is under restoration from 2012 through 2016, which is the duration of this project. The installation includes a small waterproof display case mounted on a billboard-sized image in the middle of the facade, and two telescopes installed across the street for the viewing of miniature works displayed in the case. Bi-monthly, a new item is featured in the 'mini gallery' selected from a pool of submissions. Application fee is only $10. Deadline: December 31, 2014. Visit website for further information.
