The NRDC Environmental Art Prize (Posted: 3/2/10) --
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, NRDC is offering its first-ever Environmental Art Prize. The goal is to remind viewers of the earth's natural beauty and to draw attention to the serious environmental threats facing our planet. The winner, chosen by jury, will have the opportunity to be featured in an exhibition at New York's Nabi Gallery in June and July, 2010. To enter, artists must submit images of six environmentally related paintings, drawings, prints, or mixed media pieces via Flickr. Photographs, sculptures, videos, and conceptual or performance art pieces will not be considered. Deadline: April 6, 2010. The Matchup Prize (Posted: 2/1/10) --
The Matchup Prize for fine art and crafts is $500 awarded in a juried competition. There is no entry fee and the contest is open to work in all categories listed on the site. "Sign up" via the button at the top of the home page. All submissions must be available for sale by Matchup (a non-exclusive agreement allowing sale of the work elsewhere with no penalty and no cost to you). Submissions sold (through Matchup or elsewhere) prior to end of the contest remain eligible for awards. All items accepted for display are automatically entered in the contest. The Icon Prize -- Book Cover Art Contest (Posted: 3/1/10) --
The Icon Prize is hosting its inaugural competition to select the cover art for the re-publication of the widely-praised literary novel, The Unfastened Heart. The winner of this contest will be awarded The Icon Prize, and will receive $1500 in award money, with his or her artwork to be featured on the new edition of the novel. Participants may enter for consideration paintings, photographs, graphic art, collage art and other visual media based on the novel by submitting a digital photograph of the work in jpg or jpeg format. This contest is open to anyone, worldwide, and artists of varying backgrounds and experience are welcomed. There is no entry fee. Artists may submit more than one entry. Early entries are encouraged. MIRA - Martignano International Residency for Artists (Posted: 2/4/10) --
MIRA supports international artists and promotes the cultural exchange between artistic disciplines and international experiences. We have created a pristine environment in Martignano (Lecce), Italy exclusively for artists and their work needs. Our institution offers 5 large furnished rooms (3 with private bathrooms) with work desks for the artists. The grounds are divided between 2 buildings, one having a large, shared work studio, and the other permitting work freely throughout the house or outside. We assist the artists as much as possible in order for them to concentrate solely on their creating. An open house once a month and gallery installations at the Palazzo Palmieri Museum every two months further promote the cultural exchange between the artists and the community. 700 - 900 Euro per month.
