Art of the Northeast (Posted: 5/3/16) -- The Silvermine Arts Center seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, July 9 - August 20 in New Canaan, CT. Open to all artists, 17 years of age and older, residing in CT, DE, MA, MD (D.C.), ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI & VT. Art of the Northeast is a competition/exhibition highlighting the diversity of work that is currently being made in the Northeast by emerging and established artists. The Best in Show Prize is a solo exhibition at Silvermine Arts Center with a $3,000 stipend for show related expenses. Newburgh Relocation Grant (Posted: 3/19/16) -- The Orange County Arts Council announces a call for artists over 18 years of age, currently living in New York City. The Council is offering two artists a grant of $7,500.00 each if they move to and rent a studio in the city of Newburgh, NY. After notification of acceptance, recipients must secure and sign a minimum one-year lease on 1,000 square feet or more of space used for the sole purpose of art making. Connecting Heritage Artist Residency (Posted: 2/3/16) -- PAAC and Anacostia Trails Heritage Area Inc. (ATHA) invites artists to submit multi or interdisciplinary projects that combine the arts with the rich history and natural resources unique to the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area. $500 stipend. The project idea can employ an array of disciplines - whether it is a cartographic exploration of the trails or the area's flora and fauna, a map of time that looks at how the area has evolved, a set of paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, books or a combination that investigate the soul of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area, or a study of past and/or present - so that it resonates with the ideas of history, place/ memory, nature and art. The project could also employ sound, video or performance as a medium. Site specific installations are also welcome. Tripping the Light Fantastic: Excellence in Photography (Posted: 2/25/16) -- The Cotuit Center for the Arts in Cape Cod, MA seeks entries for its first international juried photography exhibition, July 23 - August 28, 2016. $5500 in cash prizes. Juror: Rowland Scherman photographed many of the iconic musical, cultural and political events of the 60's. His photographs have appeared in Life, Look, National Geographic, Time, Paris Match, Playboy and more. CDS/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography (Posted: 4/5/16) -- The CDS/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography is given to a North American photographer pursuing work of creative or social importance. While there are other sources for grants and fellowships in photography, the chance to have the editorial, design, production, and marketing support to realize a body of work in print is rare: The prize's focus is on creating an opportunity for photographers who are engaged in the creation of a continued, active, and vital body of work to publish a first book. Winners receive a grant of $3,000, publication of a book of photography, and inclusion in a website devoted to presenting the work of the prizewinners. Wearable Expressions 2017 (Posted: 4/21/16) -- Entries are now being accepted for Wearable Expressions 2017: an international juried exhibition of wearable art, January 21 - April 16, 2017 at the Palos Verdes Art Center in Palos Verdes, CA. $20,000 in awards: Fiber, Jewelry, Accessories - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Unique Use of Materials in each, plus 4 individual categories. Jurors: Beatrijs Sterk, Germany, Jo Ann Stabb, USA, Joris Debo, Belgium, Charles Lewton-Brain, Canada, Robert K. Liu, USA, Anneta Valious, France and Russia. Endangered Art & Photography Contest 2016 (Posted: 3/25/16) -- This global, juried, online art contest aims to focus attention on the plight of endangered and threatened species/habitats. Cash prizes totaling $2,750 will be awarded in each category, and $500 will be awarded in the Young Artists Contest. A selection of entries will be exhibited in Miami, November 28 - December 1, 2016. Entries should interpret or reflect "Endangered." This may include: A celebration of the beauty of endangered or threatened species/habitats; or an illustration of the threats facing endangered species/habitats. Species do not have to be formally listed as endangered as long as an element of threat exists. Categories for entries: Fine Art (including Sculpture), Photography, and Wearable Art (including Jewelry). $25 per entry as a donation to the Center for Great Apes, or $5 for each Young Artists entry.
