Print Exhibition and Competition

LH Horton Jr Gallery at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, February 23 - March 17, 2017. Awards for both 2D and 3D works: $600, $400, $300. Juror: Mayumi Hamanaka. The Gallery seeks artists working in both 2D and 3D print mediums, including but not limited to traditional and experimental printmaking processes and new 3D print technology. Printmaking processes in 2D works should be the dominant focus. The print medium should have significant application in sculptural works such as transfer printing on ceramics. Photographic prints are not eligible, with the exception of photo transfer onto sculpture. Artwork must be the artist's original concept, design and creation. Wall pieces may not exceed 50" width and 72" in height. 3D works may not exceed 50" in any direction. Artists are responsible for all shipping and transit cost, including insurance, to and from the Gallery. NWS 77th Annual International Open Exhibition

The Northwest Watercolor Society's Annual International Open Exhibition is now open for online entry. The Open Exhibition runs April 24 - June 2, 2017, at the Gig Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor, WA. Over $10,000 in cash and merchandise awards are anticipated. Keiko Tanabe, internationally recognized artist and author of six books, is the juror. She will also deliver a workshop for artists in April 2017. Both members of the Northwest Watercolor Society and non-members may enter the exhibition. Members: $30 for 1 entry or $45 for 2; Non-Members: $40 for 1 entry or $55 for 2. Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA seeks art that explores values of one color for an upcoming exhibition, June 1-30, 2017. The term monochrome describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or values of one color. Las Laguna Gallery challenges artists to explore not only the range of tones of black and white, but also explore the range of a single color. Monochrome is usually taken to mean the same as black and white or, more likely, grayscale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single color, such as green-and-white or green-and-black. It may also refer to sepia displaying tones from light tan to dark brown or cyanotype ("blueprint") images, and early photographic methods such as daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes. All artists and multiple art mediums will be considered. No work that requires special installation or instructions will be accepted. Also, no jewelry or sculpture. $35 entry fee.
