Aquachrome: Biennial Exhibit of Contemporary Watercolor

The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists to submit works that utilize watercolor, gouache, ink wash and other similar painting media as their primary (but not exclusive) media for an upcoming exhibition, September 27 - October 25, 2019. Quite possibly the oldest form of painting, watercolor persists today, defying narrow categorization and broad stereotype. The nature of the media itself represents a delicate and dictatorial transparency, fluidity, and a potential for expressive spontaneity. $40 for up to four entries. $5 per each additional entry. Painted: 2019 Biennial Survey of Contemporary Painting

The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists to submit works of contemporary painting for an upcoming exhibition, September 27 - October 25, 2019. Painted is a gallery exhibit that calls for works of painting by artists around the world as they carry the tradition forward, or reform it for another day. This exhibit has no predefined expectation for type, style, or media of work to be considered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual, abstract, or experimental, including those which push the boundaries of the common definition of what constitutes 'painting'. The only criteria beyond excellent quality is that works must in some way represent an approach to painting. $40 for up to four entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry. Women's Stories (Untold) - Text and Image

The Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, Kansas seeks entries for an upcoming exhibition, September 6-27, 2019. Juror: Linda Robinson, Gallery Director, MWCP. This exhibition seeks to give a voice to women who have survived the trauma of tragedy. Whether feeling marginalized, treated unequally, being simply ignored and overlooked, harassed, physically assaulted, verbally abused, or having experienced profound loss. These stories (of your own experience or of someone you know) should be told, stories of experience in a domestic setting or in the workplace. Not only stories of dark experiences but the experiences of triumph and strength. The exhibition will consist of photographic imagery and/or words. Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, NE announces a call to artists for the Fall 2020 Artists-In-Residence (September 16-November 13). $1,000 USD monthly stipend + $750 USD travel stipend. Bemis residency opportunities are open to national and international artists 21+ years of age showing a strong professional working history. A variety of disciplines are accepted including, but not limited to, visual arts, media/new genre, performance, architecture, film/video, literature, interdisciplinary arts, music composition, and choreography. Flat File Feature

The Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, Kansas seeks submissions for its Flat File Feature, on display October, 2019 - March, 2020. Portfolios reviewed by Gallery Director, Linda Robinson. This new feature will provide the opportunity for photographers to showcase a portfolio of your photographic work prominently in our front gallery flat files. The portfolios will be available for patrons of the gallery to view, learn about you and your work, and purchase your photographs. Each portfolio will consist of 12 - 20 prints in a flat file labeled with the photographer's name. Portfolios of all photographic media and genre are welcome. Selected artists will have their work featured in the flat files in the gallery exhibition space for a period of 6 months and also online. National Photography Fellowship Competition - Developed Work

The Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, Kansas seeks entries for a juried photography exhibition, November 1-29, 2019. Juror: Linda Robinson, Gallery Director, MWCP. The exhibition features current and relevant work of national photographers that help define the pulse of contemporary photography in the United States. Developed Work has become established as the premier exhibition at MWCP for featuring some of the most important creative photographic work of the year. One of a Kind Spring Show

Artists are invited to apply for the One of a Kind Spring Show, held April 24-26 at theMart in Chicago, IL. You must be the artist/designer of your work and the original creator/assembler/producer/maker of your work. You must understand and have mastered the craft process needed to make your work and be intimately involved in the production process from start to finish. You must create/produce your work in the country in which you reside. Artists may have limited assistants/apprentices as long as the original artist is on-site and involved in the production as stated above. Reproduction aids such as molds used in jewelry or ceramics must be created by the artist. For photographers only: original photographs should make up most of the artist's display.
