It’s play time! We are just making things up! Let’s start by putting heavily pigmented watercolors on our watercolor paper allowing the colors to blend and flow down the page. These will create our imaginary flowers. The class will start with a short discussion regarding the application of paint & later the different types of mark-making. First, we paint several pieces, letting them dry. Then, we’ll pick up our pens, markers, or anything else we want to enhance the colors and define shapes. In this class, we will discuss some of the advantages and challenges of using these devices for photography. Additionally, we will look at composition and use of light to capture professional pictures, and how to share photos and move them between your iPhone, iPad, and laptop. This week takes campers back in time to visit Ancient Egypt. Campers will create 2D and 3D Egyptian art and will support the theater camp with set and props. Get your painting partner (adult & child) and join us to take ordinary white sea shells and turn them into artistic masterpieces! We will be using Puffy Paints, a dimensional paint, to decorate our treasures. First, using a brush and the color we like, we will give our shells a coat of paint, a base layer. Acrylic pouring is achieved by layering various methods and using different techniques and tools. Pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. Experiment with pearlized, iridescent, metallic, and neon paints. In this class we will utilize swiping, straws and other manipulations to create underwater magic. If you are new to photography or would like to take your present skills to the next level, this class is for you. If you don’t own a camera, there’s no need to worry. Would you like to understand how professional photographers shoot great panoramas, portraits and action photos? Would you like to raise your photographic skills to the next level? Students will gain knowledge of how to shoot quality photographs by learning basic photographic principles and techniques. This workshop will cover topics ranging from photo composition and lighting, to aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Our discussion will also include the description and use of the controls and modes on most DSLR cameras, and a review of popular editing software.

$20.00 supply fee paid to instructor. Acrylic pouring is a method for creating beautiful abstract images. The painting process is achieved by layering various methods and using different techniques and tools. Pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. Experiment with pearlized, iridescent, metallic, and neon paints. In this class we will use marbles to create a beautiful, colorful abstract painting. You will customize your painting along the way by choosing your color palette, design and personal touches. No prior experience necessary.

Create your own project or find inspiration in the studio. At the end of the lesson, choose your 3 favorite pieces and select 1 glaze color for each. The teacher will finish the pottery in the selected glaze and it will be ready in 2-4 weeks. If you cannot pick up your work within 1-6 months of the class please choose to have it shipped. Small boxes are $15 each.

Students can choose to make pottery using the wheel or handbuilding. Classes are limited to 5 students so each student gets the guidance they need. At the end of the lesson, if you made more than one piece, you will choose your 1 favorite piece and select 1 glaze color for it. The teacher will finish the pottery by dipping the selected glaze and it will be ready in 2-4 weeks. You can also choose to sign up for a class in the future to come back, learn trimming and glazing and keep more of your pottery, finishing it yourself. Please be prepared, tie your hair back and get ready to get dirty. You will be playing in the mud.

Kids can choose to work on the potter’s wheel or hand build with clay using coils, slabs or molds. Working on the potter’s wheel is more of an experience at first. Learning the skills to use the wheel can be hard but exciting. We encourage students to enjoy the experience, more than focus on a finished project. When hand building with clay a student can come in with a project idea like a mug, bowl, or even sculpture and finish their project in the hour. At the end of class students will choose their favorite 1-2 pieces of their art to be bisque fired, and glazed by the instructor. Pottery will be ready approximately 2–4 weeks after the class.
