Value, edges, and color are fundamental elements of art that work together to create form, depth, and visual interest. Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Edges define the boundaries between shapes and are described as sharp or soft, influencing how we perceive form and depth. Color, determined by light frequencies, adds another layer of visual information and can evoke emotional responses.

Exploring abstracts on a larger scale in the medium of your choosing, this 5-day class will push you into new territory where growth lives… only upsized, because bigger risks equal bigger rewards. Monochrome painting is art composed in a single color. It utilizes various shades or tints, so the images become incredibly evocative and most importantly what you lose in not using color you’ll gain in quality of composition and contrast. Color is no longer a distraction. The focus is on the overall composition. Also mark-making is improved by enabling the discovery of different forms and shapes with subtle tones. Painting with a single color can improve your art because it makes you concentrate on elements such as line, value, lighting and form.
