I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. Students can choose to make pottery using the wheel or handbuilding. Classes are limited to 5 students so each student gets the guidance they need. At the end of the lesson, if you made more than one piece, you will choose your 1 favorite piece and select 1 glaze color for it. The teacher will finish the pottery by dipping the selected glaze and it will be ready in 2-4 weeks. You can also choose to sign up for a class in the future to come back, learn trimming and glazing and keep more of your pottery, finishing it yourself. Kids can choose to work on the potter’s wheel or hand build with clay using coils, slabs or molds. Working on the potter’s wheel is more of an experience at first. Learning the skills to use the wheel can be hard but exciting. We encourage students to enjoy the experience, more than focus on a finished project. When hand building with clay a student can come in with a project idea like a mug, bowl, or even sculpture and finish their project in the hour. At the end of class students will choose their favorite 1-2 pieces of their art to be bisque fired, and glazed by the instructor. Pottery will be ready approximately 2–4 weeks after the class.

Acrylic pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. In this class we will use frisket paper to keep our whale intact as we pour the sky, clouds and ocean. We will use swipe technique as well as some traditional painting techniques for fine details of our whale. We will also splatter for splashing ocean as well. Each step you will be given options for how to proceed to make the painting your own and how you prefer. Often paintings are left overnight at the center to dry. No experience necessary.

There's always room for pie! Join your child for a fun afternoon of clay as you create an adorable ceramic holiday pie pot in your favorite "flavor," complete with a charming lid that's almost sweet enough to eat. Learn the basics of working with kiln-fired clay and colorful glazes while you make one project together with your child. If you each want to create your own project, please register yourself and each child separately. Ages 6 and up with an adult. All works created will be fired and ready for pick up approximately two weeks from the date of the workshop.

Gum drops, sprinkles and frosting--oh my! Join us for a classic holiday workshop: Decorating Gingerbread Houses. Each parent-child team will receive their own cookie cottage, pre-assembled and ready to decorate! Royal icing and lots of extra candies will be provided to create a one-of-a-kind edible, holiday treasure. The fun will include games, history, trivia and award certificates for "most creative," "most patient," "most innovative" and more. Space is limited and all materials are provided. But feel free to bring additional decorations from home to make your Gingerbread House uniquely yours.
